The Builders and Butchers

Golden and Green

Steeped in the titular color imagery of the deep South, the Builders and Butchers stake out a new less-tread niche in the indie-rock arena. This time they took on an epic cinematic approach to their single, “Golden and Green,” utilizing bold narrative sequences and period costuming that bespeak of dust-covered wagons and bowlegged men borne from out of a saddle. They’ve even resurrected the Vivian Girls! All in good taste of course, and quite aligned to the strong Southern aesthetic of their latest offering, Salvation is Deep Dark Well. Check out their video; you’ll be impressed by their new interpretation of the Old West.

Jay-Z x Unplugged

Continuing his REDUX video series which presents cover versions of classic hip-hop songs performed live and in one take, Lushlife again demonstrates a seamless melding of b-boy braggadocio and classically trained flourish, with a genuinely reverent reading of Jay-Z’s classic, “Dead Presidents”
It take balls to spit lines like "Bout to start bitchin' ain't you / Ready to start snitchin' ain't you / I forgive your weak ass hustlin' just ain't you" in a church (backed by nothing but a grand piano, no less) but there is something genuinely reverent about Lushlife's reading of Jay-Z's classic "Dead Presidents" in a Philadelphia sanctuary.

Holding On...

i think this speaks for itself.

BUT

Every now and then you stumble across something very special. Sometimes that discovery is so special that you find yourself suddenly responsible for sharing it with everyone else. Today that moment was sparked by Mr. Jason Medeiros, more commonly known as Mr. J of The Procussions, with the music video from his new single “Hold On”

Blue Flowers

Im pretty sure anyone coming thru this page has heard this song...I think it was in some videogame... This was the first "hip-hop" cd that really caught my ear (outside of wu-tang and bizzy bone)...I was hanging out with some skaters in OKC when i was like 17, just getting into trouble and causing problems for myself...but then Steve popped this cd in when he drove us back to Lawton...I was arrested later that night. Weird day man...weird day.

What if.....

A few years back, rumors started surfacing that one of Dilla’s infamous beat CDs had made its way into the hands of none other than Jay-Z. If the Jiggaman HAD used any of Dilla’s beats, what would they have sounded like? Well, here’s a chance to hear what might have been. Using some of Dilla’s best beats, and the vocals from the groundbreaking and critically acclaimed “Blueprint” album, DJ Jimmy Green has re-arranged the Blueprint into a glimpse of what might have been if these two musical legends had collaborated.

DOWNLOAD HERE : http://www.sendspace.com/file/pct1io

This is not intended to be a substitute for Dilla’s work, or The Blueprint album – there’s no profit involved and it won’t affect sales of either artist.

Mayer Hawthorne - Just Ain't Gonna Work Out

It's like no one ever has the nuts or a good enough excuse to end a relationship these days. I think it's real weak if you're getting shit on by a guy/girl and wanna end it but you can't because you're sitting at an un-stellar (-2) on testicle attributes. It must be devastating.

Enters: Mayer Hawthorne

...and so the moral support has begun!

Enjoy:

8bit Cynics have officially sold out of their newest project, The Toothpick EP. So they have decided to make it available for free download. Much love to those who bought the actual CD. You basically funded the recent 8bit Cynics tour of the American Southwest. Those of you who bought the album also have the actual album artwork by S.I.D. and hard copy of the album which was well worth the 5 bucks.

For those of you who did not get a chance to pick it up, here it is!!!

My gift to you.

So my birthday is comin up and i thought it would be generous of me to flip it on ya'll. Here's some new shit that im on right now.

Cassette City, the appropriately titled second album from Philadelphia-based sonic auteur Lushlife, has not only breathed new life into hip-hop, returning it to its former glories after a prolonged period of stasis and creative indulgence, but has also harnessed hip-hop’s original spirit of wanderlust and connected it to a futuristic vision of what it could, should and would be.
The full album is now streamin on myspace. so go peep it.

Zodiaccupuncture

So I found a cd under the seat of my car today, popped that badboy in and was pleased to discover it was Aesop Rock's "Fast Cars, Danger, Fire, And Knives" EP...hadnt heard this in quite some time, my lord what a good album that was!

Remember this song? That beat is so sickening--im not sure if blockhead or aes did the production (my bet is on Aes, his futuristic style is unmistakable.)

It remindes me of "the good ol days" when we had bbq's at my trailer every sunday night and sat around drinking premium beer watching Adult Swim...Good times.

Enjoy.
