Pretty sweet to see your name on a gas pump...especially when you didnt put it there yourself..."who did this?", i wondered quietly as I pumped petrol into my 1985 Pontiac Whhhhhhhip...I dont remember giving any out. Thanks for the memory loss, Madam Whiskey.

So here is your first glimpse of "Flannel"...the audio quality is very poor, i apologize.

...without futher adieu:

Friday.

every couple of months i get strep throat.

at first i was pretty sure that one of my ex's was a carrier, and every time i got drunk and made out with her i would get sick all over again...but now it is apparent that she was not to blame (for that anyway).

getting sick fucking sucks. im sure most of you would agree with me...i mean sure it has its perks: getting to miss a day of work, an excuse for looking disheveled all day, and prescription drugs--to name a few. but all the glamor soon wears off and you realize that the next couple days of life are going to eat bags of dicks.

on top of everything else, strep throat is a virus; and if you dont take all your antibiotics, returns like herpes or mislabeled parcels. oh, and you cant drink either.

so now im coming to grips with the idea that these little swollen and infected sacks of bullshit in my throat need to be removed...i dont have medical insurance, and i dont have $...any ideas? maybe i should get real liquored up and let AD cut em out?

i dunno...nyquil has blurred the edges of my life for a couple days now...where am i?

love always,

Dee's Ember Fires...

As we embark on the journey that will be forever known as "Flannel", we are proud to announce our first single "Long Way Home."--above is the tentative album art, which may change before the actual release.

For those who have seen us play recently, you have heard the story of the man on 17th Street, and the assumptions made about him by my man Dewey Binns. This song will more than likely not be on "Flannel", so be sure to cop this--we havent decided if it will be a digital download or pressed (i vote both).

This song is special to me, as it was kind of the turning point that made me really want to explore the sound that we are embracing for the new album. Very raw, very bluesy western sound, with grimey ass boom bap--what could be better?!

So in addition to "Long Way Home", there will be a sneak preview of the new album, and a song that we have been asked about over and over...and over.

"TOOTHPICK"

I feel this song needs somewhat of an explanation. For the record it is NOT an 8Bit Cynics song...The lyrics for this song are extracted from a song Dewey did with beat juggernaut JBM for their forthcoming album "Sonic Value". Originally I was asked to play with a sample that they found...instead of looping the sample I decided to just play it live, then added some 808's behind it...even though the track was scrapped for "Nothing 2 Pretty", we still loved the banging instrumental and decided to make it a part of our setlist...jaws dropped, dicks hardened (no homo), and angels clipped their wings over this shit... So anyway, its somewhat of a remix, but not really... its kind of an 8Bit song, but not entirely...All i know is, shit is sick, and we want you to be able to listen to it outside of the shows.

Also we may have instrumentals or accapellas included for your remixing or karaoke needs...who knows.

Look for this early 2009..."Flannel" is still a zygote so be patient.

[stay tuned]

New Album In The Works

Hey idiots and ignoramuses alike! This blog has been created to entertain our fans and friends as well as promote and inform you all of our new project that we have started. Contrary to the views of our great friend Jabee Williams, blogging is the new Black. So hop on bored and become a part of this blog as much as time allows you to. There will be laughter, tears, and virtual beers. There will be pictures of S.I.D. making out with blind and deaf women, DJ SL making out with his whiskey strait, and myself making out with my beloved microphone. This blog will also include sneak peaks at new music, info on side projects, tour dates and just random stuff that we feel like sharing with you...like the time Quabedaeux Pontiac in Tucson, AZ completely took apart Saevio's car when all he asked for was a public bathroom that he could use. Or the two times that SL's 96 Astro Vans (plural) broke down on us, in the middle of nowhere, on two separate tours. Or even the time when DJ Deeko of the Jivin Scientists freestyled in his sleep while simultaneously snoring and pleasuring himself with his crossfader hand. There is never a dull moment! You can also expect posts from our extended family (Jabee, MetafORACLE, Jivin Scientists, JBM, McNastee and others). So sit back and enter the world of the 8bit crew. It doesnt suck...

First of all, we are very excited about the new 8bit Cynics album. On the eve of the Sonic Value release with JBM and myself, we decided to start the new album which we will release sometime around June 2009. It will be titled "FLANNEL". Ya, like the lumberjack flannel shirts. This may sound bizarre to you at first, but our music has increasingly been coming out with a sort of "Western" sound (its very hard to describe). So instead of trying to correct this non-stereotypical Hip Hop sound, we decided to embrace it and run with it. Bottom line...Shit sounds dope!!! We are three tracks through at this point and every song ties in to one another. This album not only will be different in production and instrumentation, but the format and arrangement will also be taken in a new direction. It's not going to be a typical collection of rap songs like most hip hop records. This will be a complete story from start to finish about the plight of a hard working man turned crook, and his journey across the American Southwest to find success, love and happiness. We are flirting with the idea of formatting it like a play, including an intermission and possibly a booklet of supporting characters if our finances allow us to do so. Anyhow, we are taking this one to the next level.

In the meantime, pick up "These Boots were Made for Walking" and "Self Help". Also, look for the much anticipated Sonic Value album,"Nothing 2 Pretty" early 2009. It's going to be a big year for all of us. Come be a part of our movement.

Dewey Binns
